You can set your alarm a little later, make time to stretch in the morning and stay in your most comfortable clothes all day if you want to. However, with all of the benefits also come a few hurdles that you might need help overcoming in order to make working from home benefit your wellbeing. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of these hurdles is maintaining concentration. For many of us working from home, there’s a whole array of distractions within the domestic environment that can break our flow, disturb our focus and intercept our attention. In this blog post, we explore how using white noise can help alleviate some of this disruption so that you can maintain better concentration throughout the day.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But first of all: </span></p>
<h2>What is white noise?</h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">White noise comes in a whole spectrum of different forms. The ones you’ll likely be most familiar with &#8211; consciously or subconsciously &#8211; are things like <a href="https://theseacast.com/the-relaxing-sounds-of-the-sea/">ocean sounds</a>, pouring rain, the whirr of an oscillating fan, static sounds between radio channels and the monotonous drone of machinery. </span></p>

It pulls the brain into deep concentration by using sounds that aren’t broken by negatively-stimulating things like lyrics or change of beat. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">White noise is also great if you’re looking to dampen background noise but don’t want to shut off from the world entirely by plugging yourself into headphones all day. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Like your body needs rest after a strenuous workout or a full day of physical work, your mind also needs downtime. Using time to create some head space is not really socially acceptable, not particularly seen as something you need to do to remain healthy.</p>
<p>TV and general media will promote a healthy living via eating correctly, regular exercise and not excessively drinking alcohol or smoking.</p>
<p>All of these are correct of course, but one key element they often tend to overlook is the health of your mind. It&#8217;s now talked about separately, &#8216;Mental Health&#8217; like it&#8217;s something not associated with your general wellbeing, like it&#8217;s a separate issue when it&#8217;s not.</p>
<p>Taking good care of your health means your body and your mind, they go together and they both require equal attention.</p>
<p>Taking an hour cardio workout every other day but then spending the evening worrying over various things that have been in your head space for days is counterproductive.</p>
<h3>Finding your head space</h3>
<p>Everyone is different. There are many ways to relax your mind, clear your thoughts and give your head time to reboot and regain clarity. Meditation, listening to white noise, going for a walk by the ocean or even a daily nap after work perhaps.</p>
<p>Whatever works for you, it&#8217;s time to make it a part of your &#8216;exercise&#8217; routine. If you have a workout schedule, start adding it so it becomes part of the routine. Don&#8217;t just reach out for ways to clear your head when you&#8217;re feeling stressed out.</p>
<p>Do it regularly, create a pattern like you would when training for a 10k run for example. Your mind needs structure, just like the body to remain fit and healthy.</p>
<p>Make getting fit and healthy all inclusive.</p>
<h3>Our sea sounds</h3>
<p>I originally built this website just for me. To use whilst I worked and to help me relax, however although it&#8217;s still only new, people have found their way to it and have contacted me to tell me how much it&#8217;s helped them in various ways.</p>

Whilst the option is there for users to mix whatever sounds they want, to capture the mood they need, we are also looking at creating a relaxing option which will encompass a number of sounds, pre mixed, so if wanted you could just click and relax.</p>
<h3>Creating a relaxing sound mix</h3>
<p>Using a combination of waves, wind, and weather elements we think an already complete mix option would also be a good addition. It&#8217;s important to get the &#8216;layers&#8217; of sound balanced in any mix, and it&#8217;s no different when using sea sounds to create something that people find helps them relax, or blocks out distraction. The mix itself can&#8217;t be distracting! No high peaks or annoying moments, a white noise experience using the ocean as an instrument.</p>
<p>So we&#8217;ll take our time and care creating something that you will hopefully find useful, once we&#8217;re happy with it, we&#8217;ll get it added to the website.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ll be fixing any bugs that arise and possibly adding a few more pages. For now, the website is fully functional and ready to be used. Everything should be working fine across desktop and mobile, if you find any bugs please drop me a line.</p>
